Forty-eight negatives, 42 slides, and 41 color transparencies from the Mid-America Arts Alliance, through Exhibits USA, chiefly images from the Humphrey art exhibit which came to the Museum of the Great Plains, Lawton, Okla., as a traveling exhibition entitled "Indians of the American West" (Jan. 5-19, 1979), produced by Don Humphrey and Humphrey Galleries in Santa Fe, N.M.

Rufus Fairchild Zogbaum (1849-1925) was an artist and illustrator known for his western and military subjects. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 28, 1849, and studied at the Art Students League in New York City from 1878-1879 before traveling in the Western U.S. to paint Indians and life in the U.S. Army.
